#003: What Is a Christian?
Tuesday Sep 26, 2017
Tuesday Sep 26, 2017
With over 35,000 different flavors of Christianity out there to choose from, how do we know what makes us a Christian? Is our faith based on what we believe? Or is it more about who we trust in and how we live our lives? What about good people who do wonderfully selfless things even though they’re not “Christians”? Is Gandhi burning in hell? Is Mother Theresa doomed for being a Catholic who prayed to Mary? What if everything we think we know about being a Christian is wrong? This episode explores all this and more.

So glad I found your podcasts. I found myself in a painful conversation on full spiritual disagreement with Bible Belt Christians. Since my husband died at the age of 32 years old, leaving me alone with our baby, I‘ve evolved SO much spiritually. I‘ve deconstructed every single belief stone by stone. So it‘s very hard to hit my head against a wall with stubborn Christians who haven‘t even suffered great tragedies and think they know it all, get all moralistic and preachy, so self righteous!

Love this! I have a question about the phrase 'son of god'. Was that a yerm used by the ceasars as well, and was there a possibility that jesus was using this subversively? Thanks guys. I'm a latecomer to the podcast hence the question now......

Really enjoyed this! The one objection or disagreement I really had was with Jamaal's(?) view of us being as Christ. I feel like he views us as being as equal; I think that is a little far fetched and possible wishful thinking. I think Biblically we are clearly distinguished as created vs eternal, adopted sons vs one and only son, The Christ vs Christ like, the first born of many (when it comes to resurrection) vs as the same essence, literal vs symbolic of....etc. I really am enjoying all the dialog and learning to be more open to change(repentance) and not just excepting anything I was told was truth..so this is great. I love how you all say we can't be certain(From podcast 19?) , that to me is also very freeing. I really appreciate what you all are doing and thank you for that.
